Conference Planning
The CIM Processes group plans two conferences per year - one in Europe, one in the U.S. If you have a knack for detail or would like more justification for a trip abroad, this is for you. Opportunities include corresponding with possible meeting hosts, helping with the agenda, contacting possible speakers, finding conference hotels, and more.
2 hrs/week, for 3-month period (possibly twice that near conference dates)

Service Rep
CIMug has a help desk process in place, and there are several roles. The Service Rep views new requests, prioritizes them, and assigns them to subject matter experts. Understanding of the CIM model, the CIM website, and the IECTC57 website is helpful but not required.
2 hrs/week

Site Coach The CIMug site is built with Microsoft Sharepoint, a very capable collaboration platform. This role helps project and working group leaders explore all the capabilities that are available. If you like to explore the corners of new technical platforms and share those with others, this is for you. Ability to use web conferencing software such as GotoMeeting and products such as Snag-It or Camtasia (from TechSmith) is a big plus.

1 hr/week (possibly more when new projects start up or working groups meet)

Site Testing When site problems are resolved or new features are introduced, it is very helpful to have an independent user test the features. Patience and attention to detail is helpful here. 1 hr/week  Randy Rhodes
Collaboration Research UCA member groups have been looking at requirements and alternatives for future collaboration features, including group email listserv, alerts management, wiki development, etc. This role would help develop these features and bring them into production. 2 hrs/week Randy Rhodes
Web Meeting Coordinator UCA funds web conferencing services for working group meetings. This role would help groups use those services effectively. The individual would help CIMug members schedule conferences and webinars, and troubleshooting when users have difficulty. 2 hrs/month Randy Rhodes
Knowledge Manager This role is like a librarian. This individual reviews Help Desk service requests after they have been resolved and turns them into useful Support FAQs and Knowledge Base articles. This valuable task helps disperse the most useful information to user group members. It's also a great way to learn more about CIM. 1 hour/week Randy Rhodes
Expert This role requires some experience with CIM technical issues and some familiarity with the IEC and CIM standards-making process. You will be assigned help requests that come in from CIM members. If you don't have the experience but have a little more time to research and contact people, you can take this on. 1 hr/week

Marketing CIMug markets itself to the industry. Activities here include organizing multi-vendor booths or demonstrations; creating collateral for industry conferences and trade shows; developing brand identity; providing product advertising opportunities; and promoting CIMug membership. If you have worked with graphic artists and marketing professionals, you can immediately have a valuable contribution here. 2 hrs/month (more during conference planning periods) Margaret Goodrich
Member Communications Since CIMug is a volunteer organization, we don't yet have a centralized communications strategy. We do have several avenues for communicating with members. This role would take responsibility for developing a plan, which would at a minimum include a list of dates, events, and key messages throughout the year. Further work could include crafting content, leveraging website and email communications, and possibly producing a newsletter. Uncertain Margaret Goodrich
