Welcome to the CIM wiki!
This wiki is for sharing information about the CIM. We're also using it to form a CIM Bibliography being assembled by the IEEE task force on CIM modeling.

General Notes
A few comments for those who visit during our startup phase, to give you some context.
  • Currently, the URL is "hidden" in that no link exists to it from other CIMug pages. However it can be edited by anyone with a corporate or individual UCAIug membership.
  • Lee King contemplated having a skeleton structure in place by the CIMug meeting in Redmond in December. We didn't quite get there.
  • We discussed collaboration tools at the Redmond conference. Randy Rhodes' notes are here.
  • Randy fixed a small problem with text size - this was caused by an incorrect CSS theme file setting. Our contractor, B&R Solutions, is available to help with any problem like this.
  • Randy added in some content using bullets, a simple table, and numbered items on this page. In many ways a wiki page is a lot like a Word document. No wiki markup language is required - the editing icons are a lot like other Microsoft applications. So formatting it that way can help people get comfortable with contributing. We want to keep content approachable - but also somewhat unfinished, to draw people in.

1
Begin to build an outline of content.
(That can be on this page or another. Wikis are malleable.)

2 Seed it with content.
(That's another way to get started. See Wikipatterns for more on this technique.)

Add Sharepoint wiki tips and FAQs.

Important Tips

  1. Setting an alert for a wiki is slightly different than other Sharepoint features. A Sharepoint wiki is essentially a list of items (.aspx files, actually) in a document library. So setting an Alert is the same as any other document library. To make easier, I created a link:  Click Here to Set Alerts.
  2. If you are new to wikis, especially in Sharepoint, see How To Use This Wiki Library. We will add other tips and FAQs before long.
  3. If you create a new page, at the bottom add this:  Return to Home. (Edit this page to see how we did that, it's pretty simple. That gives people a simple navigation aid.)
