Notes - IOP Call 15 April 2013, 16:00h-17:00h CET

Agenda

1.       Last information

2.       Discuss the summary of Regulating Control issues that Christoph prepared

3.       Look at the different issues we have now and try to prioritize so that we can fix deadlines by when we have the issues resolved.

4.       Discuss on test models

IOP call discussions:

1.       Last information

RegulatingControl issue was discussed in WG13. The model is more or less the same as before. A few things upgraded. The rest was postponed until a need is identified. Also waiting for Christoph’s information

Giatgen issues on dynamics. Basically 2 questions: one on turbines one on excitation systems.

Chavdar will take actions:

-          Answer to Giatgen on the excitation system question – it is coming from IEEE 421.5-2005

-          Turbines – need to check with Siemens and CESI

Issue on splitting EQ:

Chavdar presented to WG13 how we are using the stereotypes. Some discussion will be held this week as well. WG13 likes the idea to keep as it is, i.e. one instance file and the header allows to defined multiple profiles e.g. we could say it is “core EQ” and “ShortCircuit”, etc.

2.       Discuss the summary of Regulating Control issues that Christoph prepared

The following controllers should be supported in the CIM data exchanges:

1) Station Controller: Multiple Machines controlling the voltage at a node or the Q infeed of a terminal. A percentage per machine defines the reactive power distribution. Step-up transformers should be supported as additional controls.

2) Tap controller for transformers: Multiple Transformers controlled by one device; determines the tap position for all transformers

3) Secondary controller or Power-Frequency controller: Controlling active power exchanges. A percentage per machine defines the active power distribution.

Need to check if we can have “A percentage per machine defines the active power distribution” and the relation with power exchanges and ControlArea (interchange value)

We need to check if this is covered by the model suggested by WG13.

3.       Look at the different issues we have now and try to prioritize so that we can fix deadlines by when we have the issues resolved.

1.       Decide the URIs – ask WG13 to confirm

-          URI for the header

xmlns:cim=http://iec.ch/TC57/2012/CIM-schema-cim16# or xmlns:cim=http://iec.ch/TC57/2013/CIM-schema-cim16#

xmlns:md="http://iec.ch/TC57/61970-552/ModelDescription/1#">

-          md:Model.profile>http://iec.ch/TC57/61970-452/Equipment/3</md:Model.profile> or md:Model.profile>http://iec.ch/TC57/61970-452/Equipment/4</md:Model.profile>

-          the same logic for other profiles

2. Identification of the profiles for EQ – header change?

3. Operational hypothesis (limits – are they operational hypothesis; TapChanger tap and ShuntCompensator sections (nonlinear as well) if not controlled or included for the initial stage for the load flow)

Load active and reactive power – pay attention that for the voltage dependent load we need nominal values. The SV will bring the solution (the voltage dependent value).

- Initial case for load flow (non solved model) = EQ+TP+OH

- Solved model = EQ+TP+OH+SV

4. Project extension – was discussed in WG13 in Houston; in general it creates a meta data on top of incremental;  Svein will make a proposal that should be discussed in WG13 and in the IOP calls. If we need to test in the IOP it must be ready by end of May 2013.

5. HVDC – WG 13 to provide description how the model works so that the vendors could have an estimate; (Lars-Ola to update the description that fits to the UML)

Vendors prefer to run load flow – the same effort

Need to discuss Chavdar’s proposal on Xnodes

Need to see the description and to estimate how much time vendors will need to implement for the IOP.

4.       Discuss on test models

Results for the test models need to be updated. Need to have a pdf with the results if a vendor provides a test model.
